Living Life on Repeat

If you are still doing what has proven not to work then you are merely sleepwalking through life

– Sherre Webb

Everything we do in our lives that produces a consistent result is the result of living life on repeat. It sounds a little crazy, but everyone does it. We are creatures of habit and repeatedly doing the same things in one or more areas of our lives is what gives us the quality of life we live – even when that quality of life isn’t so good. We all, in some capacity, live life on repeat. In a sense, life is supposed to be lived on repeat (this is how you discover what works and what doesn’t) and this is not a bad thing when you are living your best life, but if you aren’t, then you are among those that are simply existing.

Been there, done that and let me tell you, it is the worst way to live – feeling stuck in a rut; not living a meaningful life. This signifies that you have yet to figure out who you are and why you were created. Knowing your purpose opens up a whole new world, introducing you to a life that fills you up instead of draining you. It is knowing you are being of service to others and are living life in your element.

Sadly, a lot of people go through life merely existing. What’s even sadder is how many people either don’t know there’s a better way or have fallen into the trap of believing their current state of living is as good as it gets. I hate to see when people are living their life like this because I know all to well what it feels like to dwell in that empty existence. It’s also why I’m so passionate about helping others discover that a better way of life exist.

The reason people live unfulfilled lives is they don’t believe in themselves and haven’t figured out what they are supposed to be doing.

Comparing yourself to other people and believing they must have been “lucky” in some way is a guaranteed way to stay stuck in life. When you carry around a false belief that successful people are among a special group of chosen people and success is something that could never happen for you is devaluing your worth. It is putting another human being on a pedestal, which could only mean that you see yourself as beneath someone else. Thinking this way couldn’t be further from the truth.

When anyone gets in alignment with their true purpose in life and takes action, a mental shift occurs and things begin to happen in your life.

God will begin to make moves on your behalf – like putting you in the right place at the right time to meet the right people who are also in alignment with their purpose and can take you to the next level. I don’t believe there are any coincidences in life, although some may disagree with this. It has been my experience in life that what we consider to be coincidences were divinely ordered experiences.

Living life on repeat in some areas of life are necessary, especially when what you are doing works and continually moves you forward. But if you are living life on repeat, not moving forward, and the result is you going through the same unfortunate life experiences over and over again, clearly you are going around the same ‘ole mountain and its time to do something different.

When living in this state it is hard to figure out what is wrong or what changes need to be made. Try writing out a different plan on how you want to do things in your life, get excited with each new attempt, and know that eventually, something will work. Be confident in knowing that you will make the necessary changes in your life because you desire to do so. Understand that the only way to stop living your life on repeat, getting the same failed results, is to change your mindset by doing something different.

When I was stuck I had absolutely no idea that the mindset I held was something that had been ingrained in my subconscious mind at a very young age. I may as well have been sleepwalking through life.

Have you ever heard someone say “Oh, so-and-so is just stuck in their ways”? This is because of their mindset. The truth is that we are all stuck in “a way” of thinking. Whether that way of thinking is productive or not is key. It is the reason the rich get richer and the poor get poorer – the reason(s) can be found in their daily habits. It comes down to living certain aspects of our lives on repeat.

Ultimately how we live our lives is a result of how we think, how we see ourselves, and what we believe to be true about ourselves.

It is the continual processing of these thoughts that create our day to day life as we know it. This means we have the ability to change our life by changing the way we think. When you change the way you think, it changes everything because your thoughts are connected to every area of your life. Your thoughts determine how you see yourself, what you believe to be true or not true. Your thoughts determine what you think you deserve or feel you are not worthy of. You will have what you believe you deserve because what you believe deep down, you act out in your daily habits. Your daily actions will determine what you experience in life and the quality of those life experiences.

When you really want something different, you will have a feeling that speaks and says something along the lines of “Now there has got to be more to life than this”. Have you ever felt that way? I have. That’s life’s way of speaking to you, telling you that there is more to life – there is more to your life.

You shouldn’t ignore that feeling of there being more to your life; don’t brush past it as if it’s just a passing thought. Pay attention to those thoughts and find out why it came to mind. Whatever you search for, you will find. If you want to know what else life had in store for you, go experience something new in life (maybe there’s something you have always wanted to do), start reading and studying, and pay attention to what piques your interest. More than anything, if you aren’t happy with where you are in life, ask yourself why. Know that little by little, the answers to your questions will start to reveal themselves.

We all live our lives on repeat: repeatedly winning or losing. The choice is ours to make. If you constantly feel dissatisfied with the results you are getting in your life, change the dialect you have been telling yourself for years. This will start the process of changing your life and the life you live on repeat will change as well.
