One Simple Question

In the history of adversity, complaining has never solved one problem.

Times are tough right now, and there are many people who are dealing with unimaginable suffering due to the lose of a job, loved ones, and normalcy of life. It can be especially hard when you don’t have the necessary tools and techniques that can help you get through the tough times. I am no stranger to hard times and the blows that life can send, so I get it. Eventually, you get tired of going through the same trials which tend to leave you feeling as though you are getting the short end of the stick. If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, I will ask you the exact same question I started asking myself so many years ago:

What are you going to do about it?

When you can sincerely answer that question, you will put the ball in motion to begin to make the necessary adjustments in your life to change it. That question, although simple, forces you to find answers to your own problems. It forces you to shift your thinking and this is when true change takes place.

Although it has been years since I first posed that question to myself, I still bring it front to mind whenever facing difficult and uncomfortable situations in life. If there is something about your life that you don’t like, start with this very simple question, and if there is truly something you can do to change that which you do not like, do it. If there is truly nothing you can do to change a situation, know that it’s above you and will require that you trust the process, whatever it may be.

The next time you find yourself resorting to complaining, understand that complaining doesn’t solve problems. Instead ask yourself, “What am I going to do about it”, and then do everything that you possibly can to change that which you do not like.
