Do You…Unapologetically

Do You…Unapologetically

The best thing you will ever do for your “self” is to be yourself…

Sherre Webb

There has been a shift in the mindsets of a lot of people that have been occurring for quite some time now whereas people are beginning to live their life without fear of judgment from others. This shift is evident as there is an ever-increasing number of posts on every social media platform available showcasing more and more people living life on their own terms.

Despite the challenges that have come with having to adjust to a new normal, our new reality called Covid-19 has propelled many to discover different avenues to take to create the life they wish to live.

On the other hand, and understandably so, a lot of people still struggle with having to stay inside much of the time. While we gripe and complain, going so far as to protest at state capitals about the stay-at-home mandate, I question if the masses have considered that maybe, just maybe there is a reason for it all – a reason that at this moment, spans beyond our understanding.

Being forced to adjust to a new normal is hard; however, with every door that closes in life, one will surely open. As hard as it may be to believe, we have all been presented with an opportunity to re-access some, if not every aspect of our lives.

Know Your Worth Unapologetically

You are very valuable to this world and someone needs whatever gift you have to offer. Now is the time to spend some time with yourself to really figure out who you are, what you like, and what you don’t like. If you have been running on autopilot, programmed by what has been traditionally ingrained in your psyche, it is definitely time for you to take a hold of the wheel of your life and shift gears.

If you are guilty of living your life according to what other people believe is acceptable for you, please stop, right now. If you have been trying to be who others say you are, please stop. If any of the previous holds true for you, and I mean in any form or fashion, I think it is safe to say that it is time for you to stand up for yourself in order to set yourself free. Right now is the perfect time to be you…unapologetically.

Right now is the time to figure out if you want to continue down the same path you have been on. Maybe you are among the millions of people who have lost their job and as a result, have been forced to figure out how to maneuver through life differently. Depending on your perspective, this can be viewed as a blessing.

What life has taught me is when it is time to make a change, life will either prompt you or force you to change. Either way therein lies an opportunity to evaluate if you have been true to yourself.

Our very being has been threatened by something that none of us can see. I think you owe it to yourself when this whole pandemic thing is over, to come out as a better version of yourself by being authentic in all that you do.

Most of us are guilty at one point or another of partaking in people watching via social media. Unconsciously comparing your life to the life of those who are living a life you may have only imagined. Traveling abroad, accompanied by their closest friends and family, while enjoying delicacies that look so tasty you make a promise to one day satisfy your own palate with those same dishes. The truth of the matter is that you can live the kind of life you only dream of much sooner, rather than later, if you are willing to be exactly who you are, using your own God-given gifts.

When you become self-aware and get to a point in life where you no longer care what other people think you will naturally be exactly who you are without apologies. Living a life of authenticity eliminates the need to seek validation from outside sources. Living life unapologetically frees you from the insecurity of judgment from others.

Nothing compares to figuring out who you are, but sadly, most people won’t even try. Sadly, most people don’t want to do the work required to get to that point in their life. They will continue to live their life, the one only God can give and take away, according to what other people say, think, and feel about them.

It doesn’t matter if there’s one person or several hundred that do not approve or like what I have to offer so long as I know that I am walking in my purpose. Having this mindset has enabled me to reach those whose lives I am supposed to touch. The same holds true for you, but only when you are being yourself – be who you are, not who you think people want you to be.

A lot of times, we don’t put our true selves out there for the world to see because of fear of what people may say. You should only take judgment and criticism either one of two ways: Digest it wholeheartedly because there’s some truth in what has been said and you know it can and will make you become a better person. The second way is to take other people’s thoughts and opinions with a grain of salt and keep it moving.

Own Your Life Unapologetically

Take ownership of your life and decide that you will be the director of your life story. When you do, you won’t waste time worrying about other people. When you are being yourself….unapologetically, the opinion of others won’t hold as much weight.

Everyone goes through hard times, struggles, and times of self-doubt in order to figure out who they really are. To not figure that part of life out is a disservice to yourself. You owe it to yourself to figure out who you are and to walk in and be committed to being you, continually improving.

I challenge you to get fired up about becoming and living a life of authenticity. The only way to do this is by being yourself and sharing your gift of who you truly are with the world. Do not be overly concerned with what people think. It is a thief of peace and a suppressor of your spirit.

If you are moving through life void of being who you are at your core it will be impossible to truly connect with other people. Unless and until you commit to being yourself, unapologetically, you will continue to live life on autopilot filled with mediocrity. You can easily convince yourself to conform because it feels comfortable; maybe you’ll even adjust to being whatever and whoever other people think you are “supposed” to be, but know if you do, you will never know who you are or who you were supposed to become.
