The Perfect Inconvenience

The Perfect Inconvenience

The best opportunities present themselves at the most inopportune times

-Sherre Webb

Isn’t it ironic how the best opportunities in life always seem to show up at the most inopportune times in your life? As if they are the best of friends and without warning, the best and the worst of times seem to occur simultaneously. It’s a rare occasion when you experience one without the other, and if you do, that blissful period of time is short-lived.

Yes, it’s true that these rare, yet wonderful moments happen at the most inconvenient times. In fact, it has been my experience that when that once in a lifetime opportunity strikes, usually, the timing couldn’t be worse and at the same time, it couldn’t have happened at a better time. Depending on your perspective, it can be an amazing thing to witness the best things in life consistently being accompanied by an equal or even greater challenge.

Like the woman who has the opportunity to bring life into the world; who is given the chance to love, shape, and mold another human being – oh, but the pain she must endure to finally hold that newborn.

Or the excitement you feel when you get the opportunity to finally have that job you have always dreamed of having until you find out that it requires you to relocate to another state or another country. Maybe that opportunity comes in the form of finally finding that perfect person, the one who seems to be your soul mate, but there’s just this one thing: they live in another city.

It’s true: the best opportunities seem to come at the most inopportune times. Do they really? I challenge you to change your perception and look at these types of circumstances as what I like to call “Perfect Inconveniences“.

Could it be that if the events of your life didn’t occur in this manner, you would never truly know what it feels like to obtain the thing that, at one point, you had only imagined having? Oftentimes, when we reflect and speak about the greatest moments in our lives, they are filled with oxymorons such as “the good and the bad“, or “the best and the worst of times“.

Many times we start sharing the best news with words that are in total contrast to one another. I know I’m not the only one guilty of saying, “I have some good news and some bad news, which one do you want to hear first?” The crazy part is we say this right before sharing something great that has happened in our lives.

We as humans seem to not understand that this is the very nature of life, set up by the Creator Himself, to always maintain balance. It is crucial that you understand when given a chance to partake in a great opportunity (you know, that one that you have been hoping and praying for), a challenge is surely on the way.

Something will always show up that contradicts the good. There will always be a challenge equal to the greatness of the opportunity itself because nothing great ever comes to you without a test of your faith in God and belief in yourself.

Reality Check: Tests in life come to show you who you really are

Those tests come as perfect inconveniences to eventually prove to you that faith in God and belief in yourself end in your desired results. They come to show you that you are actually ready, able, and equipped to do whatever it takes to succeed. Rarely do great opportunities come at the perfect time, wrapped in the perfect set of circumstances, and handed to you on a silver platter and if they did, you wouldn’t appreciate anyway.

Many people make the mistake of assuming that because of the challenges that accompany the blessing, it must not be meant for them to have it, whatever it is. This couldn’t be further from the truth. Your job is to remain loyal to yourself and go forward no matter what comes against you to test your belief in yourself because truly, that’s all it is. If you give up and quit because it is hard, you will also be giving up on yourself, your dream (insert whatever your dream is here), and the opportunity that may only come once in a lifetime.

The blessing is if you can stay the course and complete the tasks that are required to get to that great thing that awaits you, the vision you have held for so long will indeed appear in the physical realm and completely blow you away. Understand that those mere inconveniences are actually a sign that you are on the right track. They are perfectly timed and therefore, perfect inconveniences.
